Medical Innovation: Boston Hospital Performs Double Hand Transplant

An article published this past weekend reminded me of the amazing advances being made in medicine today. Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston recently performed a bilateral hand transplant on a patient who had lost his arms below the elbows and lost his legs below the knees after contracting sepsis in 2002. The surgery required more than 40 surgeons and nurses and lasted over 12 hours.
