James Golden, MS, PhD 

Jim is a Partner at Accenture in the pharmaceutical R&D practice where his work focuses on 'Evidence Based Medicine' - creating a transparent approach to pharmaceutical decision making based on the aggregation and analysis of health care data such as electronic medical records and insurance claims data. Prior to Accenture, Jim was the Chief Technology Officer of SAIC's Commercial Life Sciences Office where he focused on search and intelligence analysis including unstructured text mining, competitive intelligence and social networks. Previously he has held positions in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics technology development, market intelligence and business development at IDC, 454 Corporation, CuraGen, and DuPont/Pioneer Hi-Bred. Jim is a Major in the U.S. Air Force Reserve and spent several years on the staff of the Air Force Test Pilot School. He has a B.S. in mathematics and computer science from Rhodes College, an M.S. in computer science from the University of Tennessee Space Institute, and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Vanderbilt University.

Doug MacFadden, MS  

Doug is the Director of Informatics Technology in the Center for Biomedical Informatics (CBMI) at Harvard Medical School. In his role at CBMI, he is responsible for the strategic vision and implementation of CBMI informatics projects and IT infrastructure across the Countway Library. In addition to his infrastructure responsibilities, he currently oversees two large scale NIH funded programs whose main components involve the aggregation and standardization of data across diverse sources. Prior to Harvard Medical School, he held senior Information and Technology roles for several $100M+ business units within Thomson Financial Services, a major online financial information service provider (now Thomson Reuters). Doug holds a B.S. in Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering from Union College and an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of New York at Buffalo.

Paulash Mohsen  

Paulash is currently a senior executive at Optimer Pharmaceuticals, a biotech company focused on innovative hospital based products. Prior to joining Optimer, he spent over a decade at Pfizer, where he held several leadership positions including Vice President of Strategy for the Primary Care Business Unit, which accounts for approximately half of Pfizer's global revenue, and Vice President of Multi-Channel Management, the group responsible for all digital interactions with health care professionals as well as the company's closed-loop marketing initiative. Before Pfizer, Paulash worked as a consultant with McKinsey & Co, serving clients across the pharmaceutical industry. He holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Brown University, an MS in Engineering from MIT, and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.

John Palfrey, JD, M.Phil 

John Palfrey is the Henry N. Ess Professor of Law and Vice Dean for Library and Information Resources at Harvard Law School. He is a also faculty co-director of the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University. John's research and teaching is focused on Internet law, intellectual property, and international law. He is the co-author of 'Born Digital: Understanding the First Generation of Digital Natives' (Basic Books, 2008) and 'Access Denied: The Practice and Politics of Internet Filtering' (MIT Press, 2008). Prior to his appointment at Harvard law School, John practiced intellectual property and corporate law at the law firm of Ropes & Gray. Outside of Harvard Law School, he is a Venture Executive at Highland Capital Partners and serves on the board of several technology companies and non-profits. John served as a special assistant at the US EPA during the Clinton Administration. He is a graduate of Harvard College, the University of Cambridge, and Harvard Law School.

Steve Papa 

Steve Papa has been Chief Executive Officer of Endeca Technologies, Inc. since May 2006. Steve founded Endeca Technologies in 1999 after recognizing that in this age of overwhelming information overload, the methods available for people to find what they are looking for or get answers are ineffective and inefficient. He has been recognized by his peers for his ability to keep pushing forward when all other business forces have stood in the way and for the momentum he has garnered for Endeca in a relatively short time period. Prior to Endeca, he worked for Inktomi where he was the business lead in charge of creating its infrastructure caching business, which grew to make up 60 percent of Inktomi’s revenues. He was also part of the original business team at Akamai. In addition, Steve was a venture capital associate with Venrock Associates, the venture capital arm of the Rockefeller family, and was responsible for managing AT&T’s $500 million high-end enterprise computing system product line. He served as Chairman of Endeca Technologies, Inc. He currently serves as Member of Board of Advisors at Alvenda, Inc., and as Director of Endeca Technologies, Inc.

Duane S. Pinto, MD, MPH 

Dr. Pinto is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and serves as the Director of the General Cardiology Fellowship Program at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and the Associate Director of the Interventional Cardiology Section. His clinical expertise is in general and interventional cardiology. In addition to a busy outpatient practice, he performs coronary and peripheral angioplasty that includes interventions in the heart, leg, abdominal and neck arteries. Dr. Pinto's research focus is in outcomes and health policy research related to acute coronary syndromes. He has published numerous manuscripts, abstracts, and textbook chapters such as Hurst's: The Heart and Sabiston and Spencer's Surgery of the Chest. His original research has been published in journals such as The New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, Circulation, and the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Pinto received his B.A., cum Laude, from Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH and M.D. degree from the Georgetown University, cum Laude and Alpha Omega Alpha. He also has a degree in advanced statistical methodology from Harvard School of Public Health. He completed his internship, residency, and cardiology fellowships at Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center where he also served as Chief Medical Resident.

Bijan Salehizadeh, MD 

Bijan is a Managing Director and co-founder at NaviMed Capital, a health care focused venture and growth stage investment firm. Prior to co-founding NaviMed Capital, he was a General Partner at Highland Capital Partners, where he focused on venture and growth stage health care investments. Before joining Highland in 2003, Bijan spent several years in marketing at Medtronic where he oversaw internet marketing and strategy for one of the largest divisions of the company. Before Medtronic, Bijan held a variety of senior management roles with HealthCentral, a venture-backed health care information technology company that went public in 1999. He is currently on the board of directors of several private companies and represented Highland on the board of BARRX Medical (acquired by Covidien). Bijan holds an A.B. in Molecular Biology from Princeton University, an M.D. and Master's in Science in Health Policy from Columbia University, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He is also a graduate of the Kauffman Fellows Program.
